Sisters of Charity of St. Anne – Platinum Jubilee in India (1951–2026)

“One generation shall praise your works to another and shall declare your mighty acts.” — Psalm 145:4

Seventy-five years ago, in 1951, we began our blessed mission in India. On 14 January 1951, seven courageous Spanish sisters arrived in Nadiad, Gujarat, on the joyful festival of Kite Day. As colourful kites filled the sky, it seemed as though the land itself welcomed them. Trusting completely in God’s providence and under the maternal protection of Our Lady of the Pillar, inspired by the charism of Blessed Maria Rafols and Venerable Fr. John Bonal, they left behind their homeland and journeyed across the seas with deep faith and ardent missionary zeal.

Opening Ceremony of the Platinum Jubilee

From those humble beginnings, we built a vibrant and flourishing mission. Through prayer, sacrifice, and untiring service, we laid a strong foundation that transformed lives, strengthened communities, and spread the message of faith, hope, and love across this land. What began as a small seed grew into a great tree of service.
With deep gratitude, we celebrated the opening of our Platinum Jubilee, honouring our pioneering sisters and thanking God for seventy-five years of faithful presence and mission in India. The celebration became a joyful proclamation of God’s enduring faithfulness and a renewed commitment to continue our legacy of service for generations to come.
Our Jubilee theme, “Legacy of Service, Inspiring the Future,” beautifully expresses this journey. The legacy we celebrate is not only remembered — it is continued. As those before us proclaimed God’s mighty deeds through their lives, so we move forward with courage and hope. In unveiling the Jubilee logo, we revealed a story of faith transformed into mission and sacrifice blossoming into service — a strong foundation carrying us into the future. As seventy-five balloons were released into the sky, each one symbolized a year of grace, lives touched, and love shared, rising as a hymn of praise to God.
Today, we celebrate the past, recommit ourselves in the present, and look to the future with bold faith. Trusting in God’s unfailing guidance, we joyfully declared open the Platinum Jubilee Year, marking seventy-five blessed years of faithful presence and mission in this land.
